Fact: Mobile Phones are just not mobile phones anymore.

What was once was seen as a commodity has now evolved into a productivity necessity for life. Calling, text messaging, surfing the web, updating our social media, listening to music, watching videos, whatever you do. Unless you’re living under a rock, you know these can all be done from one device. For some, taking pictures kicks off the day (you can count me in on that). We have these amped up camera enabled phones, let's use them. Especially now. After all, it's the holiday season.

Of course,  taking a regular photo isn't sufficient. You need to add the glitz, glam and jazz to stand out! Add your own "artistic!" twist. Add a filter, crop away, throw on some text, or post it raw. With so many options where do you start? Well, before you scratch your head in bewilderment. I'm talking to you, the person that just got their first camera phone.

Here are some Apps that help me add the “wow moment.” Plus, I tend to get a lot of “likes” when I post my photographs, Just sayin'!

First up, VSCO Cam - Developed by the Visual Supply Company, this App turns blah and flat into stunning! VSC finds its niche with the innovative processing technology behind their unbelievable results. Not to mention anyone can use it, from mainstream fashion houses to first time smart phone users. I first heard of them when I saw the  Levi’s Ad Campaign . And yes, Levi’s partnered with VSCO and designed their own filters, all of which can be downloaded in the App. Best of all, it's in the App Store for Free.

Not just a fruity photo filter! BananaCam, Developed by Nick Campbell, let's you peel away the complications of photo editing. Take a picture,  select a filter and  upload. It doesn't get any better than that. Available in the App Store for $1.99.

Why take it when you can shake it? Shake It Photo - Developed by Nick Campbell in 2009, the developer behind BananaCam. Shake it Photo takes you back to the hay days of Polaroid Cameras. The effects are historically accurate. It has an old school Polaroid feel with new school digital upgrades. I mean, they even added the iconic development effect found only in that old stack of polaroids under your bed. I discovered this App through Inez & Vinoodh, world famous fashion photographers. Available in the App Store for $1.99

ProCamera 7- Developed by Cocologics, think of it this way: Take DSLR and put it inside your smart phone. It does A LOT! It has Advanced Editing Controls, 76 Professional Filters and Effects that bring your pics to the next level. Not to mention the all too-elusive Night Camera, and a few more. Picture perfect Available in the App Store for $2.99

While this is not a camera App, it can't be ignored. Snapseed, developed by Nik Software, brings desktop pro-grade tools to the consumer... on their phones! Let me tell you… it’s photo editing with EASE. Every action, edit, enhancement or filter added with a swipe, tap or brush of your fingers. Words can't do justice for this mobile photography blessing. I bought this App for $4.99, but since its recent acquisition by Google, the app is now FREE... available in the App Store here.

So go ahead, whip out those smart phones and start taking #Selfies in time for the holidays. Tweet @CoLabination and we'll pick our favorites in time for the new year. Enjoy.
