History has proven without a doubt that there are some things about life that just don’t have an expiration date. Italo Calvino, an Italian journalist and writer of short stories and novels, said, “a classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say.” Even though he referenced books, this perspective could be applied to something else, like music. We all know that good music, no matter how old, never goes out of style.
Now, apply that timeless quality to fashion. You have now entered the world of the Classic Cora Collection.
Classic Cora, designed and owned by Cora Ann Mercer, provides custom bridal products to modern day clients for their special day. While representing a woman who wants to feel beautiful, elegant, and classy, Cora offers brides the ability to take an active role in their wedding day by bringing their dream bridal gown, bridesmaid dresses and/or bridal accessories to life.
Cora, who took an interest in fashion from an early age, learned to sew under the tutelage of her grandmother, who was formally trained and also created bridal gowns and bridesmaids’ dresses herself. Inspired and intrigued by this exposure to bridal fashion, when she attended college, Cora chose to study Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Fashion Design at Kent State University. During her college years, Cora recognized her fashion voice and style inspiration. She admired Jackie Kennedy who oozed poise and was a fashion icon that helped women establish their own personal style. This elegance became the foundation of her brand, Classic Cora Bridal.
Cora’s journey has evolved into an experience where she has the opportunity to create timeless pieces with a trendy twist that will evoke joy and pleasant memories for years to come. She has established her presence on social media, with accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. She has also presented her work at a RAW Artists event in Cleveland, OH and she is preparing to participate in Cleveland Fashion Week this spring. Yet, Classic Cora will be experiencing a change of direction in 2015. During our discussion, Cora disclosed that as of 2015, she will only provide bridal accessories for her clients, including shoes, headpieces, bouquets, and shawls.
This transition, however, will not deter her from creating bridal gowns and the bridal party’s dresses. In fact, in the future she would like to create a complete bridal collection that offered brides a wide selection to choose from in various bridal boutiques. With these big plans plus a dream to be in Vogue, Cora is truly positioning herself as an emerging bridal fashion company. She thoroughly enjoys the creativity involved in helping women shine on their big day. For her it will always be about timeless fashion and class. Like Audrey Hepburn stated, that is the type of beauty that never fades. It’s timeless.
